Just wondering what peoples opinions are regarding NcStar tactical scopes. I am thinking about putting one (3-9x variable) of the short ones on my ruger 10/22 with tasco tactical stock. Please let me know what your thoughts are.
Are there any other short variable scopes that would be good for this application. Working with a low budget.

Thanks

I would avoid NcStar - I have bought a lot of cheap scopes and the result was multiple purchases that just proved a waste of money. I don't know what your budget is but a good tactical scope that is clear, tracks well and stands up to recoil (even on an M14) is the Bushnell Elite 3200 fixed 10x. You can pick one up for about $200 - 250 used I think. Falcon Optics also make decent scopes. The Ebay stuff is usually only so-so though I did have luck with some clone (ie fake ) Leupold Mk4's which I bought for fun and they surprised me by being above average.

Seriously though save a few more bucks and get an Elite 3200 10x - you will appreciate it in the long term and when you sell you will probably realise close to what you paid whereas the NcStar you will be as well of chucking in the bin.

I second the notion on the 3200 Elite. While i was waiting for a scope to arrive back in the day, i threw the bushnell 3200 elite fixed 10 with mildot on my old 700 5r in .308. That scope has now made it to my cz 452 .22lr silhouette. I usually "0" my 22lr for 110 yards but in a session, i go in between 50yds, 110 yards and i will even throw out some clays at 220 yards to snipe. With the 22lr, i am basically cycling the whole elevation turret when i do this in a session and it tracks great. Great scope for the price point.
