I bought a total tri-rail system for my SKS. Everything went well except for the receiver part. The instructions are quite poor, but basicaly say to file the front tabs to fit. I spent all night filing a tiny bit at a time, but I'm not sure that is the problem. See, I spun the receiver backwards and tried to push the pin through. It seems to go about as far as the small locking tab will let it. Too be sure, I did the same with the original and it goes in fine. My calipers aren't very sensitive and the numbers are close. I feel I'll need to dremmel or use some jewlers files to take a small bit of material from the bottom lock slot of the pin hole on the back of the receiver. I'm just wondering if anyone else has had an issue with this and how it was resolved. Looks to me like I may have taken a little too much material off the front, but if I get a fit from doing the lock slot, I can put a couple of taks on it tomorrow and file it down again knowing it will fit, so I'll go slow. If I resolve the problem, I will let you all know. If anyone else beats me to it, thanks.

I had the same problem. It just takes alot of dicking around with it to make it finally fit snug. do not use a power tool, it is not necessary for the amount of metal you need to take off. As you are filing, mark the filed areas with a black marker, then slide it in to place and wiggle it around. Take it off and look where the marks from the marker came off and you can use that as a guide to see where it is still needing filing. My local gun dealer showed me that.

I'm doing the same except with blueing cause I have no marker, my smith showed me that trick too. It's just that If I keep filing, it will continue to creep ahead untill I am past the hole for the pin. If the little tab on the pin won't allow the pin to slide in, I'll never get it in. the blueing is showing some wear at the entrance to the hole and does look like that is what is holding me back. I'm off to Canadian tire to pick up some small files, it looks like the tolerance is a couple thou off.
I'm going to take this slow, if I screw up, I'll take it to work to have it welded and machined. I am so close now.

I WAS RIGHT, I WAS RIGHT, AS FRIGGIN RIGHT AS DYNOMITE!
I was afraid to do it, but I filed the small catch on the pin (not much). The only problem is, I filed too much off the tabs to begin with. It moves side to side a small bit, but I'm taking it to work to put a tiny tak on each side and file it again. A little dab'll do'er.
