Has anyone had any substantial experience with the NCStar MK.III Tactical 4 x 32 w/QD base or a good ACOG clone?

I want to mount something different on a VTR for looks but I also want something that is suitable for fun shooting.

I already have a couple of good scopes for shooting off the bench or picking off small game if the gun is ever used for more serious business.

^ I concur, but I still like mine. I have it on my 10/22 and it's a blast to play with. It's definitely not something I'd rely on, but for plinking at cans and such, and for it's "tacti-cool" looks, for the price, nothing beats it.

(BTW, mine's a 2-7x)

Crappy glass and the parallax is set at 100 yards.

Parallax shouldn't matter. After all is only .22LR were talking about, unless you plan on getting into long range shooting. Then adjustments like that would matter.

Those .223 scopes are nice for their price. I used to have one (ncstar) myself, I wish I still did. I am hard up to find a decent sight for my SR22. As for clones, you get what you pay for with any style. My last two, one couldn't take the recoil from a .22. And the other had a bad elevation adjustment screw.

This is what I'm using ACOG knock off, got it from Ki11erkane works great clear and bright holds zero I love this scope. Wold not use it on anything other then a 22cal. Shoots tight groups and returns almost to perfect 0 when reinstalling I like to use my opens sights alot. I have shot hundreds of rounds with this scope.

I beg to differ, there's a reason most rimfire scopes are set between 25 and 50 yards for parallax.
When a gopher is standing in front of you at 10 yards, it's easier to focus on it with the lower parallax setting.

Shotgun scopes are great for rimfires, they're compact, light, usually have a wide field of view, and parallax set at 50 to 75 yards.

I mounted a NCStar MK.III Tactical 4 x 32 w/QD base on top of my .22 LR Tactical Solutions AR-22 dedicated upper of my AR-15. I have at least a 1,000 rds down range with the scope mounted. I like the scope, but the mount is cr^p!

I had to lay 12 layers of black hockey tape on the inside of one side of the mounting bars to stop the scope from wiggling back and forth on the rail. I was given it for free so I'm not complaining (to much). With a new mount, this could be a great scope for a "tactical" .22 LR.

I used to have one that sat loose on my SKS. There is a screw inside of the QD setup that you can adjust to take up an slack, unless yours is just made that way. Some of their products are hit and miss, but I haven't had any trouble with their line of scopes.

How do you find the back up sights on the top of the facog?

I put an NCStar "D4B" on top of my M&P 15/22 ... Looks bad... Low profile... Have yet to test it in the field and see how well it sights in at various ranges and also how well it holds its zero... I'll make sure to throw in an update after I test it .. But for .22, looks, and bang for the buck ... cant go wrong!
Sorry for not posting a pic of this but it's late and I'm quite lazy at the moment!

They have an adjusting screw & locknut on the left hand base. Tighten it up.

i have that same scope on my Norc AR and it works great. got it off of eBay for $60
