As far as the anodize spec goes, its black. Same color colt Canada uses.

Does the factory Ruger reciever just fit inside this chassis?

Does it have a port to read the serial number or do you have to disassemble it if needed to show your serial number to the RCMP?

Yes and its a simple matter of back off one bolt.

Forgive my noobness on the subject, but the threaded area at the front, is that where you would attach a free float handguard or the like?? or is it for something different?

It looks like the same threads as the front of an AR upper. If they are, you can put any AR FF tube on it. It'd be silly if they weren't AR threads.

Pistol grip, FF tube, and stock. That could cover a huge cost range depending on what brands/types of stuff you go with.

It will take an AR barrel nut.

it can be done for under $200.

Instead of building a cover with these features for the receiver, why not a receiver with all these features?
Or would Ruger frown on that.
