Howdy Fella's. So how did my first range shoot go with the NEA? Well, I've got a Bushnell TRS25 mounted and after the shoot all I could think was "I'm gonna need me a P.E.P.R..this rig is damn accurate"! Holy crap this baby can shoot. After a few rounds to get the TRS25 zeroed, I went back to 50m and did a three shot group with Hornady 55gr VMAX which grouped at a tidy .5". That's right- half an inch. Then I fired a three shot group with Australian Outback ammo loaded with Sierra HPBT 69gr projectiles. That group went just on 1". Conditions were cold with a consistent 3 o'clock wind so I thought I would give the hundred yard a miss and went to 75m. Two more three shot groups with the Sierra.....first one at .75" and the next at .84". Then I ripped open a pack of Barnaul 62gr SP and did a controlled speed three shot group. 1.5" was the result. All shots were taken seated, shooting off two sticks that I lashed together to make a sort of poor man extended Harris bipod thing. They work so shut up. I do not fire hundreds of rounds during my range shoots unless I am shooting my .22, this initial shoot tells me all I need to know- the NEA-12.5" BBL is accurate enough for varmint hunting. When I mount a scope (don't know what yet) I am confident that I will keep my groups under 1.5" at 100m. GOOD TO GO!

I love the trigger! This is a second hand rifle with around 300 rounds through it already so the trigger has had some break in time. For precision shooting there is a very predictable stacking feel and then a nice break with no over travel. It is not as crisp as my Savage accu-trigger but a ####load better than the SKS that I am supposed to sell. The NEA mini-can kicks all sorts of ass- there is almost no muzzle flip and while not as efficient as a full suppressor, it does the job. The cows in the field next to me were moving towards the sound of impact (a hard old log) and not towards me. The brass landed in a pretty tidy pile at around two o'clock, I imagine when I shoot with the break off they will go more towards 3 o'clock? I am waiting for a crush washer so I can try out the Crusader muzzle brake that came with it- I'll bet it is going to be ear splitting loud. Next range shoot I will see if there is any change in round impact with the Mini-Can off.:rockOn::rockOn::rockOn: NEA-15 ROCKS!!! ps- so far no failures to feed or eject.

Nope, the trigger is standard. But it is important to note that I have just come off doing a heck of alot of shooting with my Para model SKS. So I am very used to crappy triggers and getting to the stage where I can shoot the rifle well regardless of the trigger. I am going to dig up my Smiths fish scale (within 1/2 pound either way accuracy wise), I'll bet the NEA has at least a 6lb pull. But like I said- the initial and very small take up is predictable and stacks nicely before the final pull. My Savage Accu-Trigger (7mm08 weather warrior) is wayyyy better and I think the pull on that is about 3 or 4 lbs. I am supposed to be going shopping with my wife, but I am going to lock myself in the gun room and clean the NEA-15. I have named it DRAGON. I can't wait to put a scope on and start shooting rabbits etc.

EDIT NOTE: Just checked the trigger on my hi-tech fish scale, looks like around 8+ lbs. I don't know if I want a 3lb trigger on a semi auto, but I wouldn't mind shaving off a couple of pounds. Any suggestions? (asides from dry firing a gazillion times) What is a cost effective upgrade- maybe just replace a spring...

ALG Defense makes some pretty cost-effective triggers. Been thinking about getting one for my NEA. Rock River Arms also makes a reasonably priced two stage match trigger. I have a Geissele two stage trigger in my Les Baer AR and it is absolutely fantastic. It really spoils you. Its a bit expensive though.
