Educate me. I'm looking at picking up a NEA 14.5" ar15 and I want to know everything, the good the bad and the ugly of your experiences with this rifle. Also I would like to hear about any modifications that should be made to the gun or recommended to enhance the performance of this rifle. What optics would work well and what accessories go well with this ar. If you have any pics of your NEA I would love to see them.

Thanks in advance

Buy the rifle first, shoot at least 500 rounds down range and see what you like and don't like before you start taking advise from anybody else.

Here is a pic of mine. I built it, but the upper, lower, 10.5" barrel, crusader brake, and FA BCG are all NEA.

Some of the other parts include: An Armalite 2 stage match trigger, Spikes ST-T2 heavy buffer, Magpul B.A.D. lever, FDE Magpul furniture, and a Vortex SPARC red dot.

Check out my thread as I recently got my NEA 10.5 CQB out for it's first trip.

In summary, 480 various rounds (norc, AE, winchester, hornady) and not a single malfunction . I've only added a Umbrella corp grip and tapco fore grip. I found the trigger to be a bit heavy, but im told it will get better with time.

Out of the box with crappy BUIS, it shot well all day long.

I have a 14.5 NEA and I have put around 500 rounds through it with no problems at all. Everything is nice and tight .

Here is a thread with a bunch of pics: http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/foru...ttle-NEA-love-for-a-change&highlight=NEA+love

Most but not all NEA owners here like them. Your best bet for the "good, the bad, and the ugly" is to set your search parameters to the past 18 months and see what others have to say. For informed opinions, I'd take a look at reviews by or even PM Misanthropist and Ganderite and see what they have to say.

My NEA continues to perform flawlessly, probably 3000 rounds through it so far. I will be using it in a 3-gun competition this weekend and expect it will outperform the user once again ;)

Had my NEA 7.5" out for the first time this past weekend 400-500 rnds shot flawless. I have a 12.5" with a 12" rail on order. The quality is good.

Here's the NEA I've been rocking without a single hiccup! I'm pleased. Buy what works for YOU and your game. It's gotta be that way since at the end of the day, it's all YOU... :D

Go with what yer budget can afford, go with what's available and what you are comfortable shooting!

Cheers,
Barney

I got a recent 14.5" and I'm very happy with it. I can shoot a solid 2" group at 100 meters every time with an AIMPOINT PRO, which has a 2MOA dot. (So it may be more accurate than that.) It's extremely light, soft shooting, and seems a hell of a lot easier to clean than my C7 ever was.

The rail as it comes out of box may come slightly loose while shooting. You just need to tighten it down yourself. I haven't had a problem since. Similarly, in the first 200 rounds, the trigger didn't reset 2 times. I had to flick it forward again. Again, the problem hasn't resurfaced, so I considered it part of the break-in period. For a Canadian Made AR15 with a free floated heavy barrel, polygonal rifling and railed fore end, I can overlook the teething period.
