Is the NEA barrel nut proprietary? (the latest one - with the m-lok handguards...)

Has anyone successfully mounted a non-NEA handguard/quadrail to the NEA barrel nut?

Most aftermarket handguards come with their own matching barrel nut.

Every brand is a little bit different.
The only thing they all must have in common is the 1-1/4 x 18 thread to attach to the receiver.

I used a standard ar wrench on my two NEA 15's when I assembled them

NEA's new and old style rails, have identical barrel nuts.
NEA's barrel nut is a tad different then a standard milspec barrel nut. "Teeth" from what I remember extend out a little further.
NEA's barrel nut can be removed with a standard AR wrench.
