What's the quality like on their barrels? I know that in general their rifles are crap, but I believe I heard someone say once that their AR15 barrels are actually pretty good.

Anyone have issues with them? Gas ports messed up, barrel extensions coming loose, etc?

I have seen both oversized gas ports and barrel extensions that have come loose. I cant speak to how many barrels had those issues or if it's still a problem.

Supposedly the blanks are made by a 'name-brand' barrel maker but the people who know for sure are bound by a NDA.

Damn, that sucks. If there's issues like that not sure I want to roll the dice given their track record with their rifles. It's just hard to find a 14.5" barrel with mid length gas system. Only other one I could find was a DD for $380 which is double the NEA. Oh well, better than having to pay shipping twice and deal with warranty claims I guess.

The one positive I consistently read about NEA was their barrel's were solid. Half price and lifetime warranty make the risk pretty low IMO.

I had one of the newer 12.5" 300BLK and 10.5" 5.56 barrels. They were much better finish than the older ARC+ stuff. I was shooting under 1.5 MOA at 50yrds using bulk Hornady 150gr FMJBT in the 300BLK and 55gr FMJBT pills in the 5.56. Both uppers with a 1-4x on the 300BLK and RDS on the 5.56 upper. My eyes aren't that good to be shooting small groups using a 1-4 or RDS at 100yrds. :p Never had any problems with them and would buy one if I was on a shoestring budget.

If you have the $, I'd buy DD barrels in a heartbeat. So far, all my DD barrels (18", 16.5", 12.5", 10.3") have all shot sub-MOA groups.

Bought one of their 18" barrels to try.
Accuracy is OK, nothing remarkable.
Had to use selective assembly to find a bolt that would headspace correctly.

I've used their 10.5 in 223 and 7.5 in 300 blk. For the price difference and the fact that your not running full auto you can't go wrong imo. The newer ones supposedly have a lifetime warranty. That speaks for itself.

If that is how you feel then move along.

I had a Noveske that could't hit the broad side of the barn, guess they are all crap too. My Colt I had at Connaught in 1997 had a LPK failure during a match. All junk too?

Maybe buy an HK barrel? There are so few on the civvy market that maybe you will never hear about a failure?

Here is the warranty card that currently ships with their firearms (found it with a 5 second google):

I have no affiliation with NEA and do not currently own an NEA, but their warranty statement looks to speak for itself.

It does say that it doesn't cover normal wear and tear. I was under the impression you could shoot the t*** off it and get a new one lol. If that's the case the warranty doesn't hold much ground as any respectable barrel manufacturer would honour their workmanship.

I'm running (don't buy ONE,but buy Two of them philosophy) TWO NEA barrels. One is a 10.x" on my client CQB shooter and my own personal shooter is a 14.5" Middy gas length shooter...

My #### has not fallen off yet (YET)!

Have a Merry Christmas!

I have 2 NEA barrels on my Ar's. Both are minute of angle on those builds. One in 223 wylde and one in 556,

Oh yeah, they are on NEA uppers and lowers that I bought used when I built both rifles and I have had Zero issues. Guns are abused rarely cleaned and usually go through around 400 plus rounds per day when they are taken to the range. They have been used in sandy muddy snow and slushy conditions at out door ranges.

People who don't like NEA's may have heard of or had issues with them, but the two I have are excellent and to date have been 100% reliable and I would personally rely on them in a SHTF situation. I carried a C7 for three years and would put the two NEA's I own up against the C7 I carried for accuracy and reliability every day of the week.
