Installed the NEA magwell and find that LAR mags are so tight they stick...anyone else have this issue? are they not inteneded for LAR Mags?

thanks in advance

yes and No.. they fit but tight in and out (in this case not the way i like it) Pmags work like butter but steel USGI mags and LAR mags...tight anyone else notice this with NEA Magwell?

My experience is that Pmags worked fine (if the rivet is low profile enough), and everything else I had fit too tight to be useable.

Is that mod the same that you have to do for the G36 mags? cut out the little bits that protrude at the left and right front of the mag?

Never heard of it..i assumed that if they make an adapter it will work for the intended mags...PMAgs work perfect keep in mind and fall right out when released but steel mags and Pmags stick...so what is the mod?

The first generation NEA magwells required you to remove material from the inside of the receiver. The 2nd generation doesn't require this mod (mine didn't).

IIRC the XCR pistol mags work fine but the LAR mags do not due to the mag catch. I traded all my XCR mags for LAR mags with my buddy as my AR's are not fussy with mags like the adapter on the SL8. I hope this helps.

Guy

The first thing I'd do is read through the SL8 FAQ sticky:
http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?270868-The-SL8-Mods-Info-and-FAQ-Thread
Well down the first post the mod is explained. I'll go back to my first question though, does the mag drop free when the adapter is not attached to the rifle? If it doesn't you'll have to do the mod. I have both the NEA and HKPro adapters and both needed the mod for the LAR mags to totally drop free easily. The HKPro needed less material removed. I have no idea if other mags need this mod as I only use the LAR mags in my AR adapters. In the end I run the HKPro one because it was easier to mod so I could retain the original mag release and quick change between it and the original H&K unit.
