I got an NEA complete upper which comes with the brake shown below. I tried googling for info as well as emailing NEA but I haven't been able to find out the following info:

1) what are the specs on this outer thread? (as you can see my measuring devices at hand are not highly accurate)

2) what's it for?

Thanks if anyone can help.

These were not blued. Every one I have seen was a uniform greyish colour. The discolouration would likely be from use.

Up until they tweaked the finishing process lately, that's what the treated parts have looked like for the last year. It's not a defect, it's how the treatment process made them look.

the finish was light grey like the threads. I did a quick cold blue on it and it discoloured from use. Needs another coat.

So what I'm gathering is that the big outer threads are for a QD supressor mount that wasn't adopted for use... I still would love to get some technical specs on the thread size and any other details.

Thanks for the helpful feedback.

Sorry, I must have been too vague asking about the specs on the threads. What I mean is that I'm looking to find out the angle, depth, distance between threads - the physical dimensions. Are those available anywhere? Who should I ask to find out?
