NEA rear take down detent

There is no hole in the back as shown in all other lowers (you tube) there is a hole at the bottom of the bigger hole where the rear take down pin goes and the detent spring fits so, assuming that's where it's supposed to be how does one get the pin in...
 
The detent and its spring do not go in from the rear of the lower receiver. They go in vertically from below, and are retained in position by the grip - just as the selector detent and spring are retained.
For some reason, NEA changed the design.

Well call that stupid.
 
I am only basing this on one specimen. Bought one of the el cheapo stripped lowers on sale at SFRC. Only NEA I've ever worked on. At first glance, I thought the hole for the takedown pin detent and spring had been omitted.
Doesn't seem to have any effect on the function of the detent.

Probably to save a step in manufacturing. Production engineering is often a trade off.
