you are probably the reason I had to wait so long for mine! :p

I finally got in a custom 1 piece mount for a Model 70, should be on soon. Pics to follow. I am amazed with how light it is.

A great guy and a pleasure to do business with.......several times. Top quality work and delivered on time regardless of military contract agreements.

I just got Richard's Alpha Hunter mount for my M-70 .458. As others have experienced, my questions were answered, he allowed an inspection period to ensure the mount would work for my application, the other option is a rail, but I'm sure glad he suggested this one. It arrived a few days later by Express Post, rather than snail mail. Naturally my 1-4X Nightforce which was purchased earlier has not arrived, and will probably be some time yet. The quality of this mount is all anyone would hope for, Near is a first class operation.

I have a SA alpha hunter, a 25 MOA piccy base and am ordering up another base and an alphamount for a 300 WM build I'm doing as well. His work is flawless and of the highest quality. Won't use any other base or ring combination!

I have just ordered an alpha hunter from Richard as well. He answered my questions and took the scope OD measurments as well to keep it as low as possible with caps. I have heard good things about the product, and Richard was very good to deal with.

I tried to deal with him once. He wouldn't answer questions and told me to "go to the website". Ken Farrell turned out to be much more accommodating. More recently ATRS built me a custom +40 MOA base for my M70 which turned out quite nicely.

I see no reason to support Richard Near. He's filed with Joe P in my "don't deal with" file.

I guess everyone has a bad day here and there, but I am quite impressed with what he is going to do for me.

Nears the best, f**k the rest:p

Richard does make a nice product , and he can be a little tempermental to deal with but I am baffled as to why any scope requires 2 rings on the front. Apart from making it "Near ly" impossible to mount anything else like an ACD or scope tape on the scope and severely limiting where you can mount the scopeto attain perfect yerelief, I see no benefit.
As most are well aware I shoot BIG guns alot and have yet to have an issue with using 2 standard .750" wide rings to secure my NF or S&B scopes to my rifles.
