Does anyone have any complaints with products from either of these manufacturers? I am considering a pic rail for the sako trg 42 from one of the two manufacturers. Is there a difference in quality? And any recommended vendors for these products?

I like Badger rings & rails, I use both, NEAR seems "over built" which depending on your application can be worthwhile, however albeit adding more weight?. I would think? that the price may be about the same?,however the NEAR product may be more expensive. YMMV.

NEAR is better quality. The Badger 20MOA rail is $158 USD, can't find any Canadian retailers after a quick google, and the NEAR is $175 CAD.

I'd recommend getting the SPUHR rail if your getting it for the TRG. I had the original Sako pic rail on my TRG, but swapped it for the SPUHR Sako mount and found it much better.

Jna is it a spuhr rail or mount to the propietery sako rail?

I want a rail for commonality. Weight isn't a big concern in this application(it's a hefty 338 a few ounces this way or that... not a big deal to me) Price... not really a concern but a better value is appreciated.

It's quality really. If the NEAR is more overbuilt and better quality NEAR it is. Thanks gents. Unless spuhr makes a pic rail. I have had great experience with spuhr products.

I don't have any experience with Near although I hear it's very nice stuff. I don't think you can go wrong with Badger though, I've had a few sets of their rings and bases over the years and they are top quality. Nothing fancy aesthetics-wise, just purely utilitarian and totally reliable.

NEAR only makes bases & rings out of steel ? Looks to be the case from what I can tell on their site.

This is wrong .

I have 2 mounts and two rails , I believe their a composit material liter than steel but stronger than aluminum

I bought from him because he's a small buisness Canadian , his product is top notch and cheaper than comparables

Interesting, first I've heard of that with NEAR. I'll have to look into their composite offerings.

It is a scope mount for the proprietary SAKO rail on top of the TRG-22.

This is how it looks on my rifle:

I do have good experience with spuhr products and don't know anyone that has had bad things to say about spuhr products.

But my ae mkiii has a pic rail and for the time being the s&b on it will migrate between the two till i find a better optic for the ai. So I'm reluctant to go with propietary mounts. Hence my desire for a pic rail.

Also including that the s&b occassionally gets put on lesser rifles to verify their accuracy potential. So a pic seems like the go to option for me.

Your rifle looks great though.
