Trying to decide between the Richard Near, or Sako muzzle break for my tikka t3 tactical. Was looking for a picture of the near installed on a rifle... anyone? Thanks.

This is the break, but I was hoping for a complete rifle pic.

The Sako is fine I'm sure, but it looks so damn big!

The Near brake you have pictured is not the Near that I have on my Sakos

The Near brake is on the left and the Sako is on the right . As you can see the new Near brake is nothing like his other brakes.

You can't really see it in the pic but the sako brake slots are angled downward, sending some of the gases down . The Near is straight along the horizontal plane so it doesn't kick up crap as much

The Sako vents to the side and up . If you look carefully ( very subtle ) the Near brake directs the gases slightly behind ( you can see the slots arching back ). I can tell you without a doubt the Near brake is more obnoxious to people shooting beside you but seems to be more effective for recoil

My shooting buddy had the perfect description of standing next to a 338Lapua with the Near brake. He said it felt like a feather pillow hitting him in the chest !

If you also look carefully the Near brake is asymmetric . It vents more to the right hand side. The theory behind this is it keeps the muzzle from twisting to the right ( assuming you are a RH shooter )

It seems to me the rifle will twist or torque, left or right, depending on the twist in the barrel, not the shoulder you are shooting from. The brake( break) is asymmetric to take that into account, or piss off the guy on one side more than the other.

This is the stainless version. Works great on my TRG 42, in .338 LM of course.
Richard is a top notch guy to deal with.

Richard has one interesting brake! I'll have to talk to him about that one!! Looks like an original.
