& I thought the 500 S&W was a big boy!
Here is a nut job tring to shoot the much smaller 600 Nitro Express out of a HAND CANNON!

And here is the 700 Nitro Express in a rifle full fury!

You got to be crazy to shoot this CANNON!

Guns & Ammo magazine had a photo of Craig Boddington (one of the contributors/editors) shooting a double rifle chambered for .700 Nitro Express when he was on a hunt somewhere in Africa. The photo showed the rifle at about 80 degrees UP from horizontal after he pulled the trigger. This was on a double-barrelled rifle (he fired one barrel at a time) weighing about 17 pounds.

After seeing that photo and the videos above, no way in heaven or hell are you EVER getting me to pull the trigger on a .700 Nitro Express!! Uh uh, no way, ain't happenin'!!!!!

Taken from the hand cannon video......

Think about this, in the gun world they use what is termed as a "recoil index" to kind of give prospective buyers an idea of what a gun kicks like. A 30-06 gets a rating of a 1.0, which for many people is about the limit of what they can shoot multiple rounds thru comfortably. A 243 is rated at like a .4, a 270 was like a .8, etc. The 600 Nitro Express is rated at a 9.4 times more punishing power than a 30-06.

WTF is wrong with the guy firing the pistol? He is taking the whole thing lightly like it is a joke. He should have been on the bench, prepared to take the recoil. On the other hand, WHY in the world would anyone build a pistol that fires 700 nitro? Trying for a broken hand? cut forehead? enjoy trying to find the pistol in the long grass after missing an elephant?

Even in a rifle, that round is EVIL! You better hope you hit what you are after on the first shot. I am getting a flinch just watching the video.

For comparison,

700 NE muzzle energy 9,000 ft-lbs, and up to 15,000 ft-lbs handloaded

50 BMG muzzle energy 13,000 to 15,000 ft-lbs

The sign in the background of the hand cannon vid, says "aim every shot", do ya think he aimed that shot and hit what he was aiming at, prior to the pistol boomeranged across the range, and why not using... just a guess..... a little less powerfull loading in say a hot 500WE range to possibly as a slight controlability aid over a average or any loading for 600N. :HR::HR:
Just a guess....
