I took the old Savage out and went for a good walk this afternoon. I remembered seeing this rock in the Spring when I was picking stones for a farmer. You can see the size of it. It has been there for a good long time.

This is about 100 yards in front of one of my tree stands .Its a fair sized tree growing on top of it.
One large tap root going down the side of the rock.

All the big trees on my place look like that tree.Big rocks with roots going down the sides of it. When the wind blows just right I loose a few every year.

Glacial erratics from before the climate changed.:) Look at them and you can tell where they came from. Thinking Hudsons Bay area for those, given the locale.

Mine is south of the TransCanada Highway, 80 miles east of Regina, sitting 3/4 of the way down the slope into the Pipestone Valley. The Pipestone starts just a few miles west of the rock.

Mr. K, that is a very interesting looking rock. Are there any other similar rocks anywhere nearby?
It looks like it is sedimentary, in layers and breaking apart. However, the top two appear to be at right angles, like it was indeed, placed there, in pieces.
While I was going to the log schoolhouse about ten miles NW of Love, SK, another boy and I found a similar, layered rock, that we were sure was placed there and something great and mysterious must be burried underneath it. It was on the trail I took going to school and for most of one fall, another boy and I tried taking it all apart to get what was below it. After many hours of labour we had to admit that those kids who said it was just a natural rock, were right.
