NECG receiver sight

Nice little sight but read carefully how to adjust - one screw must be left alone. If u need instructions I have em some where.

I like mine as a backup sight. I put a remington front sight and ramp on my 358Win Frontier to use it if/when the scope isn't in use.

NECG took my first one back for exchange because they had machined the peep slot off centre. The hole wasn't round when you looked thru. Good company - just said send it back 4 inspection and they sent me a new one - with an extra insert I needed too. They acknowledged it was messed up. I had bought it used too.

Thanks, that's good to hear. I have one ordered and that's what I want to use as my primary sight for the 77/357. It's just a knock around gun, so I want to keep it light and trim.

I don't have experience with one...yet.
I have one on order too, should be here any day.
I got the partridge front to match.
I'll be putting them on an M77 RSI 7x57 as the primary sight.

I held off on this for a long time, looking for something a little more open in design, something like the NECG CZ550 sight.
Haven't found anything like that for the Ruger though.

I toyed with the idea of getting the XS Ruger sight, but I'm not crazy about the idea of drilling and tapping my 1 of 250 rifle for it, when there is a bolt on sight available.

I wonder if the new sight Ruger puts on that Gunsite Scout is any good - or even available separately from them.

I've been considering getting a couple for my CZ 550 .375 H&H and my Ruger Hawkeye Alaskan in .416 Ruger but haven't got around to it yet. I really like the idea of using it as a back up in case of scope failure on the .375 or as a primary sight on the .416. I find the irons on both rifles adequate, but shoot a peep better.

I have the NECG CZ model on my Brno Z-47, and I like that version very much. The other versions unfortunately don't follow the same design. IMHO, they put so much rear sight in your vision that it will tend to pull your focus away from the front sight. In other words there is more metal for your eye to look at that with a thin rime - large aperture ghost ring, but less than with a large disk - small aperture target sight. Anyway the CZ version looks like . . .

My reciever sight came in the mail today.
The front post was on back order though.
I'll just have to shoot it with the factory bead for the next 6-8 weeks.

I probably won't get the chance to try it out for a couple of weeks anyway as it's my turn to work the next 2 weekends. :(

Just so everyone know NECG sites are made by Recknagel in germany and marketed under that name in the US.

With all the dificulties in importing from the US lately, you might be better off to contact fritz matti of matti arms in quebec. He is an importer for recknagal and great to deal with.

Cheers, McLean

Good to know, thanks for the tip!

I use one of these sights as a back-up for my Ruger 77's. It works very well if you follow the directions...as mentioned earlier, you can screw up in unexpected ways if you ignore the manufacturer's recommendations.

When I had a Baikal SxS double rifle, this same sight (coincidentally) fit the slotted rib perfectly and worked with the front sight...definitely the best set-up for these guns.
