Hi guys,

Just bought a 1956 Winchester 1894 in 30/30. Never reloaded for a lever action. I normally only neck size my brass for my bolt actions, after being fired from the same rifle and I was wondering if it worked as well with a lever action?

Thanks,

A

There is no problem doing this but you will still need a FLS because you will need to push the shoulder back eventually to avoid feeding problems, all the regular parameters should be observed like proper case trimming. For hunting I would test the rounds for proper function and keep an eye on incipient case separation because the levers never had tight chambers and the cases get work hardened pretty quickly.

I have 30-30 cases with more than thirty reloads. It's dependent on how hot your loads are, and how tight your rifle is as much as it is to your loading practices, as to how many loads you will get.
I had another rifle that would show separation marks you could feel on cases in ten loads.

Yes, you can neck size, but you may need to full length size periodically, and I always full length size for hunting.
