I had no luck using H-4895 with the 35 gr bergers. I tried loads ranging from 26.5 up to 28 gr. For the 35 gr bergers I use 25.5 gr of RL-10X and 26.8 gr of benchmark. With these two loads I can put them in, in under a 1/2 inch at a 100 yds all day long.
The OAL for the 35 gr bergers for my Savages is set at 2.31
35 bergers, 25.5 gr of RL-10X and 26.8 gr of benchmark
40 bergers and 40 V-max, 24.5 gr RL-10X and 25.5 gr of H-4895
39 sierra BK and 40 gr Nosler , 25 gr RL-10X and 27.5 gr of H-4895
32 V-max and 32 gr nosler, 26 gr RL-10X and 27 gr H-322
These loads may not work in your gun so REMEMBER to start below these and work your way up at approx .2 to .3 gr at a time. The 40 gr bergers and 40 V-max are well below max so should be okay with them.
I've used the same loads for summer and winter. Havn't noticed a difference. I would imagine if my loads were max or slightly over and shooting on a real hot day, then a fella would probably see signs of pressure such as flattenend primers or a bolt that's hard to lift.
For me I have found RL-10X to be the all purpose powder for my 204. From the 26 gr on up to the 45 gr hornady SP.
H-322 only worked for the 32 gr stuff
H-4895 only works for the 39 gr BK, 40 gr nosler and the 40 gr berger
I use benchmark for the 35 gr bergers and the 26 gr varmint grenades.
I will also be trying RL-7 and / or H-4198 for the new 26 gr varmint grenades.
