Working up a load for my buddy's bear hunting, and need some data on the '06 and 165 TSXs. I've got H4831, RL 19 and 22 on hand (also have H4895 and RL 15, but I think those might be a bit fast).

Anybody got a pet load?

Go for the gusto! H4831 at 60/61 grains will give the desired results. Please start lower and work up safely. Should get 2850+ at the top end. Regards, Eagleye.

be carefull with 61gr with a 165gr bullet it will be a compressed load and the pressure will be super high.

One load I made for a bolt action was 60gr IMR4350 with a Serria 165gr bullet it was around 2900fps and was a compressed load.... but I would not dare to use this in my semi-auto.

start out lower and work your way up you will be suprised the lighter load some times ends up being the most accurate.

62 grains of Reloder 22 has always seemed to produce good results with any 165-grain bullet I've tried.

In my personal Remington 700, I was able to load up to 64 grains of that powder with a 168 TSX, but I would not recommend it unless you work up VERY carefully from well below that.

What makes you say that pressure will be super high? Your load of 60 grains of IMR 4350 will develop more pressure than 61 grains of H4831 for certain. I have in fact gone to 64 grains of H4831 with the 165 Partition, but because, like another poster, that load just might be hot in some rifles, I cannot recommend it. Compressed loads do not automatically mean high pressures. Regards, Eagleye
