Need a .223 Rem good for 1:12 twist load

For targets or varmints?

With that twist you want to use some shorter/lighter bullets.

A good place to start for a .223 target load is 25.0-25.5gr H335 or 26.0-26.5gr W748 under a 52gr SMK or 53gr SMK (flat base).

Hello, like stated above, starting reloading and was wondering where a good place to start may be from your experiences. (gun is a Tikka T3 lite)

Thanks

With the twist of your rifle I wouldn't load much over 55gr. I'd start with 40 and 50 gr Hornady Vmax, or Nosler Ballistic tips. Powder choices include Win 748,Varget, H322, RL7, H335,IMR 4198, and Benchmark.
I use a lot of Win 748 because I have a lot of it to use, 26-28gr with a 40gr bullet, 24.5- 26.5 with 50gr bullets. FS

Buy your self a reloading manual, the new Nosler and Hornady books are very good

My personal favorite for my Rem 700 is a 40 gr. V-max over 20 gr. of IMR 4198. Laserbeam accurate at 100, and a minimum load for long brass life. Good luck.

I didn't know Tikka had a .223 barrel with a 1 in 12 twist. Learn something new each day.
