I have a CZ shadow and am thinking of taking a black badge to get rid of all my bad habits and teach me proper shooting skills. Will need a belt, holster and extra magazines ........what do you suggest?

I use a CR scpeed WSMII holster, knockoff cr cspeed mag pouches and a CRspeed belt. I'm very happy with my setup.

I started with CRSpeeds and once I needed two belt setups I looked for something else and found these Scorpion belts. They are very stiff but seem okay so far. I used them for a couple matches already.

I use a Bladetech DoH for my CZ and Ghost plastic mag holders + magnet.

DAA belts are the best. Bladetech holster works great. I like my DAA racer pouches and many shooters much better than me do as well. Loctite the holster! I lost a bunch of those screws and had to dip into the parts bin to make it work again :)

^^^This!!

I started with a crspeed belt and mag pouches but now run DAA belt and mag pouches. The DAA belt is by far the stiffest one I have used so far(I have a cr, DAA and a safariland els). All my holsters are also Bladetech DOH.

Also if you are looking to get rid of bad habits and whatnot, look into an actual handgun skills class instead. The black badge teaches more about safety and the game of IPSC, not so much on how to actually shoot.

Bladetech or ghost for holster.
CR speed or ghost for pouches. I had trouble with bladetech pouches. CZ mags hung up on me.
CR speed, DAA or bladetech. Personal preference. They've got the minimum stiffness.

Have at least 5 magazines.

Black Badge is a requirement for IPSC competition.

I agree that if you want to get rid of all your bad habits you'll need specific gun handling classes. I've found that classes are more than worth the money saved on ammo trying to figure it out on your own. You can also get some one-on-one instruction. A set of experienced eyes will see your inefficiencies that you will never catch watching video of yourself.

The instruction in the Black Badge does includes lessons on stance, positioning, strategy and yes, shooting otherwise why ask the students to bring 100s of rounds of ammo. Of course there is shooting instruction. The quality level of such is up to the instructor but it is definitely not nothing.

You can't go wrong with a DAA belt. Blade Tech holsters are also a good bet. Make sure to get one with the tek-lok attachment instead of the belt loop one. It is more secure and it is also a breeze to remove/replace. As far as mag pouches go: The best ones that I have tried, by far, are the Ghost 360 Mag Pouches. No screws to mess around with or loctite to get tension on the mags. Retention is from a couple of pieces of spring steel inside the pouch with directly apply pressure to the mag. You can use one or two springs to get the tension that you need. I can switch from glock to CZ mags with no issues or adjustments of these pouches and they hold the mags great while still allowing easy draw of the mag.

You can get all of this stuff from forum sponsor Double Tap Sports. Josko is very helpful and easy to deal with.

True that may give some minimal instructions on basic shooting skills but like the OP said, he's looking to get rid of some bad habits. An actual pistol shooting class, like skills and drills, would be a much better bang for the buck course for him.

If he is looking to start shooting ipsc then yes he will need to take the BB course. IMHO

I'm in the same boat as you. Just ordered mag holders and a holster from Solely Canadian. Still hunting for a belt. Blackbadge this spring if any of the courses line up with my time off.

Not a CGN dealer, but WC Ammo sales carries everything you'd need as well. PM me and I'll give you Walter's contact info if you want it he still doesn't have a website yet....

This.

Not much of a class for skill building and breaking bad habits.

As far as belts holsters & mag pouches.

DAA belt, DAA production holster and ghost pouches is what I run. Didn't like the bladetech holster, not enough room between the holster and belt for my thumb.
