Well, I finally cranked off a bunch of 210 grain bullets out of my 311284 Lyman mould and do you think I can find my cast bullet book !!! Arrrgh. An of course, there's nothing on the Alliant website either.

Could someone please look up the load for me.

300 win mag
210 grain cast bullet
Gas checked
Unique powder

I'm guessing it'll start somewhere around 17 or 18 grains, but I'd rather have the proper min/max. Thanks guys.

D,
My old Lyman cast book was made before the 300 Win. Mag was! Closest is the 300 H&H, but would you know, they don't show the 210 grain bullet for it. Further, they don't show Unique for any bullet for the 300 H&H.
The 30-06 shows for the 311284, a max of 18 grains of Unique at 1800 and 12 grains of Unique for 1350.

My info shows 17.5 grs for 1605 fps and 22.5 grs for 1845 fps, all with unique. Bullet #311284 is probably not the best choice in the .300 win mag. unless you can seat the bullet quite far out of the case so that the gas check is not below the neck inside the case. This bore rider design shoots best when the bullet is seated well out into the rifling, and if your bore/chamber will accommodate this your magazine will not. This bullet shoots well in my .308 when I size the boreriding front to .301" and the rear portion to .310".

Well, I've tried 180's which shot ok. I've tried 200's which shot better, even with the gas check seated well into the case. I figured I'd try the heaviest 308 bullet I could find and see how that worked. They're not going into the magazine. I shoot my cast stuff as single shot only. I'll see how far out in the bore I can get it and see what hapens. It'll be a few days before I can get over to the range. I'll report back then. Oh.....how the heck do you size the nose of the bullet smaller than the bottom??? I should note...all of mine are sized to .310 as well.
