Asking for an older guy here. He's trying to figure out the origin and possible year but to me the rifle looks pretty scrubbed. He sent me the photos so this is all I have to work with. Thanks guys and sorryimage.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpg

I see Parker Hale on there- so it was converted to a sporter postwar , by a reputable company. Not some bubba job. Is the barrel full length or has it been cut?

The "C" in the serial number gives it away, as does the square "S" on the receiver rail.

Made by Savage quite close to the end of their contract. They made about a million rifles and this is Number 947415.

Savage made over 1 million No4s :)

they ran out of numbers 99C9999 and then they used 5 digits after the C ie.. 0C###xx

but yes its a Savage, and its not been FTR but it has been sporterized, barrel does it have 5 lands and grooves?
