I just saw the thread on the 1949 SKS and have to admit I didn't realize there were differences in these guns. Should've been expected I guess.
I'm thinking of picking up one of those rifles this week (not the 49) and could use some help.
I understand in 45 late in the war they made a bunch for the trial and them started making them again in the 49 in case AK47 would turn out to be a flop and kelp making them till '56 or 57?...So would the model from 50 on better than the original 45?
Can anyone tell me (or point me to a link) how many variations there are in the design and what the differences are? I'm getting a Russian one with laminated stock and was wondering what year/version I should be looking for.
thanks!
