Well went into P&D with my mother today and she started looking at .22, but she is only 5'3" and was having trouble with the full sized rifles. The gun guy handed her a couple youth models, and they fit her well, so i think i'm buying her a .22 for christmas and keeping it at my place to take shooting with her. So i need sugestions for youth models. I'm looking at a Savage MARK II-GY Youth for her. I know once i take her shooting she will get her PAL, for a rifle anyway she likes the outdoors, and camping and in Alberta whats more fun than taking a .22 out into the woods for some plinking.

Agreed....I have two of them and think that it's tough to beat and I doubt that you can get a bigger bang for the buck that your kid can grow with. It is essentially a standard CZ 452 with a shorter barrel, same adjustable trigger, and a shorter stock. It comes with a single shot adapter. This is then interchangeable with the standard 5/10 round 452/453 and Brno 22 LR mags when they're ready. It also has the dove tails for a scope as well as basic iron sights. Might want to run a search on Rimfirecentral.com in the CZ forum as they've had quite a few post over there on this little rifle.
