Need Advice Before Purchase

A 7mm wby mag is a nice calibre as well. Much less recoil than the 300.

Maybe try a 7mm rem mag. less recoil but still has a lot of energy. 270 is an awsome cal to and if you really want a magnum i've heard a few good thing about the 270 WSM.

Try to find one to shoot before you buy is my advise! Some people can handle more recoil than others, and if you can try one you will know if you like it before you plunk down hard earned $ on a new one. I personally prefer 338 Win Mag over a 300 Win mag. But then I'm a 7mm Mag guy, so I skip the 30 cal. I have to agree with the general opinion here. A Mag cartridge is an extension of your manly member, but heck!!!! If you can handle the recoil they are just so much fun to shoot! But don't kid yourself, a standard cartridge will do anything you need it too! I shot many animals with a 270 over the years!
