Getting a barrel for my Savage 10 stealth done and I need advice for barrel length, contour and twist.

Considering I've had the rifle 2 weeks and already have 300rnds through it I better order soon with the roughly 2 month turnaround.

This is basically my "let's practice our long range marksmanship" rifle. Intended use will be plinking steel out to a mile.

Thinking 1:7.5 or 1:8 twist heavy target bull barrel 28-30" lengths
Out of some random reading online.
Figured I'd ask some of the guys who actually shoot that far what they think.
I'm thinking the extra 4-6 inches should get me a decent amount of extra velocity.
As for twist rate I'll be shooting 147gr bullets and wondering if a slight over stabilisation would be beneficial or just stick to 1:8

Thanks

Made a call to jury custom barrels should be working on making me a drop in Savage within 8 weeks!
So no more then 200-250rnds a week or I'll be without a barrel

250x8=2000rds. That's not exactly a huge round count in a bolt gun being shot slowly...

So far everything I've read points to 2000-2500 end lifespan on 6.5 cm :(
We will see but rather have a spare available then have to load for 300wm or 338 lapua. That gets expensive FAST

I could see it losing a bit of accuracy by 2500rds, but unless you are shooting a competition and every little bit counts, then it should still be plenty accurate for a while past that point.
