Wondering who you guys trust to fix a loose raised rib in Canada/US
My Ruger started to sing at the end of partridge season, to my horror, I love this little 28ga. Thanks in advance.

I believe it will also need rebluing as the solder process is not kind to bluing. You could try contacting Ruger for the repair or they might recommend a place.

If you live outside of the United States and your Ruger® firearm requires service, please contact the Ruger distributor(s) in your country.

I think the Ruger uses a floating rib, a rib that is loose on dovetail posts. Floating ribs are common and allow barrels to heat and expand while not affecting the rib. I am not sure where the line is drawn between normal and too loose.

Had a .375 African with a safety issue (would not work out of the box) Gravely in Quebec was the only one at the time that did Ruger warranty. They wanted me to pay shipping both ways ,sssooo took it to a local smith fixed it and was cheaper than shipping.

Yes the post are loose, they ring when tapped and you can see the rib move no more than a couple thou of an inch, but is solid on both ends. My old gunsmith friend who has passed, had a process that he used high strength black loctite epoxy to reapply ribs and never had one come lose, and never screwed up the bluing made a jig that had clamps that moved so he could apply pressure on top of each post! I was hoping for an non evasive solution to my Ruger, but looks like from you nice CGN'rs that a total reblue and relaying of the rib,. I'll contact Ruger warranty first, but looks like the 28ga will take a trip to Briley in Texas as not heard of anyone in Canada who does this work.
Wendall I don't think a 27 year old Ruger firearm would still be warranteed by Ruger, thanks for reply my friend! Thanks to all replies my friends, cheers,Dale Z!

I not speaking for Wendall, but I assume he was implying they would be the smith to do the work at shop rates or could offer someone who they would recommend?
If your shipping State Side maybe when you contact Briley for the tube install they could recommendation a quality smith too kill two birds with one stone...while the parts are there ?
