Ok, Im in the market for a new R rated, once my tax return shows up...

So, here's my issue.

S&W 460
S&W 500
Sig 1911 (Zombie edition from Questar)

Price is not an issue.

Reading another post in this forum about the 460 really caught my eye, but the Ive been after a 1911 for awhile (Ruger SR1911), but the Sig would work.

What do I do???

First you have to decide what you want to do with the gun! I have a 500 only because I already had a few 1911s. If its for target practice go for a 1911. If its for the cool factor and occasional shooting get a 460 or 500!
Since price is not an issue..go for both!:)

Ask yourself if you want to shoot all day or just crack off a few until your wrist hurts. If you are into punishment then the answer is obvious but if you want to enjoy prolonged trigger time at a reasonable cost then there is only one choice...

I have both the 460 and 500 and also have 1911's. As for the two Smiths the 460 is the more practical of the two as you can shoot 45 colt and 454 casual in it as well. The 500 is the more awesume one but if you do not reload the ammo costs are very high.

The 1911 is by far the more practical of the three choices.

I reload and also cast my own bullets for all my guns so for me it is not a big deal. I can tell you I shoot my two smiths more then I do my 1911's but I am a revolver guy.

Go with the 500 and work your way down to the 460. I do not regret one for second buying these 2 guns. Go with the 8 3/8 barrels :)

Cheers.

Hit the nail on the head!!!! Ive got a 9mm and a GP100, so this next purchase would be a "big present to myself" purchase. Thats why I was looking at that 1911 zombie SIG (coolness), or the high horsepower revolvers. I was in WSS last night, lots of 500's in there computer inventory, but very few 460's. They had 460 ammo on the shelf, no 500 ammo.

When I was deciding between the 460 and the 500, the answer for me was simple. I have seen 460 ammo in stock locally and have never seen 500 ammo. I do not reload so having a steady of supply of ammo was important.

Also I prefered the shorter barrel of the 5" 460V. The boom and flash from this guy is just silly:D

I went for the 500 for the fact of having "the most powerful production handgun in the world".... Plus it's 50 cal.

I can get both 460 and 500 ammo locally and if they don't have it in stock they can order it. Difference in reloading is nothing really and I do like the idea of having 500 gr ammo with the option of 700 gr since
