need advice!

I lately have become interested in these rifles,already done the pistol thing need something different to get the juices flowing again. I know next to nothing about these guns and I'm looking for a recomendation from you fellas on my first purchase.any advice will be appreciated, thanks

If you're looking for something just to bring out to the bush and plink with, I recommend an SKS. There are many floating around the EE, the ammo is cheap, they are very reliable, built like tanks, and fun to shoot. They aren't the most accurate rifle by any means, but they are great to plink with.

If you're looking for something with precision accuracy, I'd start with either a Remington 700 Varminter with a bull barrel in .308, or maybe a Tika T3 in similar configuration.

Need to narrow it down a bit before advice can be given.

What type of shooting?
How much do you want to spend?
Restricted or non-restricted?

SKS ia a good cheap place to start and can be customized. Then ypu may want to think VZ58 or AR

I just want something that could be used for serious target shooting, I would guess that something of this nature would run 1500-2000 dollar range. As far as resticted non-restricted it doesn't matter I could go either way. I've already had a mini 14 and I think I should go further than that. Cheap to shoot alright but I would prefer more recoil.

prefer recoil = your nuts.

If you are looking to play with targets and want to try something BEFORE you commit huge funds, get a used target/tactical .308.

If you want more recoil in black rifle wait for the 308 black rifles coming out in the next 1-2 years.

If you want precision then your best choice is a bolt gun such as Remington 700p or savage 10fp or Sako TRG in 7.62mm

If you want precision semi-auto then SL8 or SIG

I think you need to decide a bit more what type of shooting you want to do and where. Do you want a bolt gun or a semi-auto? Where and what will you shoot at what range? Do you want restricyed or non-restricted? What type of money do you want to spend?
