Hey folks, I am looking at getting into the long range game. To be honest I own enough guns I cant even remember how many, but I don't have a single one with a scope. I am looking at a used 338 with a Sightron 10-50x60 Scope. Does anyone have any first hand experience with these? are they worth the money? I hate to say but when it comes to scopes I don't even know what to look for.. anyways thanks in advance for any input.

I do not own that model but i have the SIII 6-24-50 LRMOA. Great glass and priced well below what the competition has simular to.

Sightron is probably the current holder for the best bang for buck title. They have good glass at a good price ! You can pay more and have better glass but you starting to look at 2-3-4x the price. I wouldn't say they are a budget scope per say, but they are a great scope to get your feet wet at long range with out dropping big $

As far as the check list for buying scopes

Clarity
Repeatable adjustment
"Sharp" turret clicks
Internal adjustment (more is better)

Then your into desired features
Retical style
First or second focal plain
Mil or Moa adjustments

Worth the money. I own 10x50x60 with illuminated center dot. I like the floating center dot combined with the hash marks.
When you zoom to 50x, the light reduces through the lens a bit but the illuminated red dot really helps. The only cons is that you have to remember to turn it off.
