Hey guys
was thinking of picking up a target rifle at some point and have been looking either at savage or remington ...was in sail the other day and they had the 770 I think on sale less then $300...was there a recall on the 770?
anyways I won't be hunting or shooting it alot but from time to time will go up to Borden and try out some distance shooting what do you think will be a good basic rifle with scope at a low price..I don't need the high end stuff as I'm not shooting enough to justify the price tags
also what cal shout I stick with...this will be my first target rifle bolt action
thanks for your advise
Glenn.

Where are you going to get a Remington Action for less then $300.00, (pending on the bolt face)? the recall was on certain triggers in them, which you will probably change anyway. Throw the barrel, trigger, and the stock away. Or keep it as is, and change the trigger, I fail to see the problem, (again pending on bolt face).

It is not a 700 action. Read some reviews on the Remington 710 which is the same as the 770. The bolt locks into the barrel not the receiver, so rebarrelling would be a real PITA, although not impossible but a little more involved (read expensive) than rebarrelling a 700 action.

thanks for the info
still on the fence if im going to get one or not..we will see..but I'll keep my eyes open for deals...not a big fan of used guns though
but we will see..
