I am just interested in identifying what exactly this imaginative unit was before somebody went to town on it. Any expert opinions?? Satisfy my curiosity!

It is a .22LR, judging by the magazine and non-typical Bolt-Carrier. My guess is Mitchell Arms, a company that made a .22 LR AK look-a-like back in the 1980s and early 90s.

While they were imported/distributed by Mitchell; that they were actually made by Armi Jaeger out of Italy
I owned a Galil, AK-47,and a FAMAS version.
Now sadly Prohibited along with.the AR version.
