Need ammo recommendation for a Hatsan Optima/Escort MPA semi-auto 12ga

Hi Guys,

Have had this gun a few years but haven't really run it yet. I've only test functioned it, and had issues cycling as I was using the super-cheapo Federal Field and Range.

I understand this gun needs a hotter load, at least minimum 1.5 drams.

Any recommendations on a value/bulk shell that cycles well in this gun? Looking for 2"3/4 #7.5 or 8.

I like challenger 1 1/8 ounce target loads. 3dr also so no worries there

Polish the mag tube. Then can shoot what you want.

I've heard from owners that the o-ring is usually installed backwards from the factory, so be sure to check that cause it apparently fixes cycling issues.

+1 for polishing mag tube just took my mpa optima for the first time and 3" hv slugs slugs kept getting stuck on the last round

I had some feeding issues with 2 3/4 #8 Winchester but like others have said I think this could be easily fixed with minor adjustments.

Mine has run well from the get-go with cheapy Win or Fed bulk pack. Make sure o-ring is in correctly, lightly lube, and hope for the best. Or pound a few boxes of heavier loads through to loosen her up a bit.
