I'm working on a project....if succesfull it would be a legal non-restricted MP5 lookalike.....but I need to get my hands on one to do some fitting/measurements/molds. For obvious reasons, I'm stuck with getting either an airsoft version or a DEWAT....heres the thing: The airsoft guns are tons of cash, and being as I will cut it up.........., and I can't find a dewat anywhere. Anybody know of either a dewat or one of the metal airsoft guns (not working, read: cheap) around?

.... "Dewats" probably available, in either the UK or Europe via some of the Miltary Surplus/Collector sites. I guess you've already looked in Canada and the US ? 'Hate to think what one would cost though !! ...... Good luck ! You'll need it !! ..... David K.

I tried getting an all metal airsoft mp5 off ebay a few years back (I was going to try to do the same thing with a 10/22. customs got it and destroyed. lost money. Don't bother trying to get it through customs.

The cheapest airsofts you can find are the MP5 versions. Try www.airsoftcanada.com you might be able to find a broken one within driving distance for next to nothing if you post something. You can buy a brand new working MP5 airsoft there for ~$465. You could probably turn around and sell it within a week for the same price.

Should be around 1300-2200 for an MP5 dewat. I would go with a metal bodied airsoft version to house whatever action you will be dealing with.

I wouldn't. Cheapo aluminium and pot metal is what pretty much all the airsoft "metal" mp5's are made of. Dropping one from 2 feet can break it, I can only imagine live ammunition.
