Hi there. Reason for starting this post is I am in need of some pointers from guys experienced in the art of bumpfire. I've been bumpfiring the xcr-l NR for two years now, it's short trigger pull n reset is my favourite thing about it. Now I only bumpfire off the shoulder, leave the butstock .5" off my shoulder and my grip on the pistol grip... Not so much of a grip.. More like my hand is on side of the gun index finger is at a 90deg angle and bottom three fingers towards target. So then as soon as I feel my trigger finger touch the trigger I pull the gun forward with support hand and bambambam! but all I can get is three really quick shots, many of my friends think it's only one shot it's that quick, I can do this over and over and over easily all day. I just can't figure out why I can't dump the whole mag, I've messed with the gas settings quite a few times to no avail it actually works best on setting 4. Harder piston movement= stronger impulse into your shoulder I guess..dunno. anybody have any better results at this?

Yea this thread is likely going to be locked. It is likely that people think this is illegal but it is not illegal. It could be unsafe (as any full auto or bump fire can get out of control and send rounds high), and paints a bad picture for us gun owners as the people within earshot are convinced you have a full auto. Now That I said that I will give you my $.02 From the shoulder you sound like your doing it correctly to me. My shock timer shows me doing it the same as you with a USC/UMP 45 at 600RPM from the shoulder, and an M4 223 in excess of 800 RPM using a nail driven into the shooting bench (probably some grey area as to the legality of a nail driven into a wooden bench). Never was able to do better than a double from the shoulder with an AR and stock trigger, or an inconsistent 2-5 rd burst from the hip with a thumb in a belt loop. Throw a match trigger in and you could probably do it. You could probably learn a lot off youtube or sites like AR15.com . In any case I rarely do it. It's just bad image for us and though I have good control it isn't impossible to end up ripping rounds out that you have no control of but 100% liability for. If you doing this in the back 40 and some uniformed guy gets wind of that rat a tat tat you might be looking to have the rifle confiscated until proven in God knows how many months or years to be only semi auto.

In short:

Legal? - Yes
Dangerous? - Possibly
Damage to our image as sport shooters? - Yes
Fun? - Yes

You decide
