I am from S.E Sask, right along the U.S border. There are allot of us with a severe problem, Our dealers only carry the "COMMON" rifles , loading equipment, etc. This is a problem because there are ALLOT of us here that like other rifles and products that are not as "COMMON" as the rest. ( HOWA , Sig, Lapua , and the list goese on and on) However when we ask all the local dealers if they can get something in for us. We get brushed off. I have spent hours and hours dealer searching, However allot of the dealers do not have websites as of yet or I am having problems finding them, or a dealer with the interest in the same type of firearms besides your old winchester .308 or remington pump shotguns. I get the old " we can't get it " excuse more often than not. If they cant get it WHY doese everyone else seem to have no problem getting it???? If anyone has any info on GOOD dealers , or if there are any GOOD dealers in the area that i possibly may not know of, PLEASE PM or E-MAIL ME. Thank you very much.

I haven't dealt with them, but other members frequently sing the praises or Alberta Tactical Rifle, however, they are not in your area.

You gotta get off your ass and go get the good stuff if that's what your after. Go to Wolverine's in MB, Shooting edge in Calgary, P&D in Edmonton!

Seriously?

What's wrong with having stuff shipped? 90% of the time when I want something I order it from Wolverine Supplies or someone like ATR. Even if the local gun stores will order stuff in, it's almost always cheaper if you look around. It really pays off on expensive items here in Ontario too, because we have higher sales tax than out west. One more reason the west is best...

Example; Last summer I bought a brand new Remington 700 VSF from Del Selins in BC, and even after paying taxes & shipping, saved more then $300 over what I would have payed at the (usually well priced) hunting/gun store I usually go to.

Cheers.

Tim

Talk to the guys in Brandon. People from Estevan come here lots for stuff. Call Jo-Brooks or Wolverine in Virden. There are ways to get what you need.

The trouble with you local guy bringing in neat stuff is that it costs him more to do it, if it doesn't sell in 90 days he starts to loose money on it.

He has to charge more for the neat stuff because of shipping, and the BIG One is that he has to be competitive with the rest of the on line market place, not worth it.
Plus most shops ordered their neat stuff last January or early February, smaller shops that don't have a bunch of extra dough laying around to take a chance that you and your buds are going to purchase what ever he happens to order.
Now if you were to come in and pay in advance for him to order something neat for you, I'm sure they would do that. FS

Shopping online or over the phone is usually pretty effective and there are a lot of decent board sponsors here to do business with. Frontier is located in P.A. Sask.

Tried to pay in advance... no go.:-( I will have to take a week or two holidays , go on a road trip... :)

That is the nature of a specialized retail business that can only move a handful of those units.

ATR, Wolverine, V-Bull Precision and businesses like theirs can only function as national businesses. Mail order is a huge part of their service. Your local "Bubba's Guns & Grub" may be able to obtain these specialty rifles, but chances are they are going to use an existing authorized Canadian distributor to do it anyways. Your cost will reflect that.

...questions like yours are what lead entrepeneurs to start those very busniesses. If you think there is a market for those products, go into business for yourself! It's a good idea.

+1 Wolverine Supply

It would really be worth your while to take a trip to see Wolverine in Virden MB. Even if you cannot afford to buy anything it is worth the trip to just see all the cool things that they have, plus if they are not busy, I always enjoy some of the things that John (and his staff) know. He has probably forgotten more about firearms than I will ever know. When I was young and still lived at home, (near Moosomin) we would often take a trip to see John. I had no money but just liked to listen to him tell different accounts of how each gun was used and anecdotes from soldiers who used them in various battles.

When I lived in Weyburn several years back the CO-OP hardware had a good gun selection, not like what I am used to here in Calgary but better than expected for a town that size. The fella who run it at the time was great to deal with and was willing to get stuff in as long and he had at least some cash up front.

Build a relationship with a local dealer and before long I bet they will give you a better deal on some items or order in some special stuff.
