Hi nutters, I'm sure I'm not the only one that's lost a detent spring while switching stuff around, I was just wondering if there's a cdn dealer that has misc springs and parts. I just need a rear detent spring at the moment but for future reference would like to know.
I know brownells has them

I believe Wolverine has parts for AR lowers and even if they don't have a detent spring, they'll get it for you. I bought an Armalite lower parts kit a few years ago and have spares, I recommend one.

Being as we manufacture ARs there is a better than average likelyhood we have every small part in an AR:D

If you're in a pinch while awaiting OEM replacement. Start taking apart some click pens. You maybe pleasantly surprised.

Click pens springs don't have the power and they're too big.

BAR is right. I've never found a pen small enough. I use Parkers exclusively and they don't fit for sure. Tried many though.

Best replacement is from a BIC lighter. Pop the flint wheel off a (preferably dead) one and use the spring that pushes the flint. Might need trimming to length but the size is perfect. I can't remember if I cut it or used it as is.

Best yet if you have a tap and grub screw you can solve that problem for good.

Beat me to it. i cut mine down so that about three eighths of an inch stick up from the receiver (rear take down) with the spring and the the detent pin in there.

Great minds eh? :D Thanks for confirming how much to trim...

I still recommend you get the correct item. Maybe this as a stop gap but definitely order a few extra if you seem to lose them. The originals have WAY more power.

While I don't disagree per se, the bic spring is more than strong enough for the job. The ones from pens, not so much. I've been using mine for five years or so with no issues. The right part is a better solution if the OP is planning to put an order in... Which they should, and get a complete spares kit at the same time.
