Hey all. Bought a factory refurb 226. Very nice except for excessive travel in single action. But shoot quite well with it.

I am looking to buy another 226, in 40. It will be a back up gun/primary gun when shooting IPSC and IDPA.

What is the difference in the German made, American made? Stainless slide. Blueing- one has a more durable finish than the other? Quality of the German/American versions....etc

Anything that can be mentioned, please do so.

I payed $875 for the refurb, and I just caught a glimpse that someone is selling new, for $999.....

The refurb may be the higher end gun. Need more info to know for sure.

I'm not sure, but I have a question for you, Max Owner... is there a dealer in Canada that sells refurbished SIG P226s, or did you have to go through an import process?

You have asked alot.

US made vs German made = no real difference although the US guns are all SS slide new style guns now. The German guns are still the old style pressed steel slides. Both have their pros and cons. The Nitron finish on the SS slides is extremely durable though, the old style slides were blued and it came off pretty quickly.

Sig(factory) refurbs are plentiful... Al Simmons in Hamilton,Ronin Sports,
Ellwood Epp's in Orillia, etc., etc.,
Prices (as you paid) seem pretty consistent.
Sig quality also seems to be consistent (high) regardless of national origin of
the unit.

Milled, stainless, Nitron slide on the newer American guns vs. stamped, carbon steel, blued slide on the older German ones. Nitron finish is much more durable than bluing. Quality is comparable.

I was looking at getting one from Wolverine. They had one left in 9mm, came with 2 mags the box and lock. Typical refurb. Price was $849 plus shipping and tax. Tax because I am in the same province. It was in great shape. In the end I found one on the board here for a fraction of the cost. It too is great shape and I can't wait to get it out on the range.
If you are still interested in the refurb, shoot them an email.
Hoddie.

Lever has a whole heap of them in 9mm, .45, and combo .357sig .40 S&w. Some of them have night sights as well. The Combo package of the .40 and .357 comes with a brand spanking new .40 barrel.

Good choice??

I just picked up a factory refurb P226 in 9mm from P&D Enterprises in Edmonton on Monday. Price was $875. This is my first hand gun and it was kind of a spur of the moment decision. I've had a restricted licence from when they first went to PALs but had not picked one up. Its made in Germany. How does this pistol stack up against others, such as the HK USP. I took it to a range and shot 100 rounds and it seems tight and well made. The trigger pull was much better than I expected. Is this a good choice for a first gun? What is this DAK trigger I've seen advertised? Is it something that can be retrofitted to a standard gun I'll use it for shooting targets, nothing organized.
