Will a standard L1A1 inch pattern barrel fit on an Indian receiver? Also what would be a fair price to pay for a barrel/gas tube assembly in excellent condition?

Fn l1a1

I can't answer your question, all I've got is a FAL,however hit up Marstar for the answer,he's a sponsor on this board.Might be a bit of a trick to find bits and pieces now, also there is a company down south of the border doing new production of FN knockoffs, don't know what kind of pattern he uses, most likely non metric.good luck.

Indian rifles are frankensteins. The Indians reverse engineered their guns from samples of both "inch pattern" (L1A1) and "metric pattern (FN FALs). Some parts interchange between Indian and other Commonwealth rifles, some don't. I suspect that an inch pattern barrel will fit on an Indian receiver, or can certainly be made to.

Inch pattern rifles use a "breeching washer" (which MARSTAR may have in stock). There are videos posted in various places on the Internet with instructions on assembling FNs of various kinds from "parts kits" which may have more info. Try googling "falfiles".

I have seen rifles made up from mixed inch and metric parts, just depends on the skill of the assembler. Sometimes a little machining is required.

Sorry, can't help you with the price of parts, but check out the parts section at MARSTAR for a good idea.
