I was clumsy and i broke the rear sight on my Long Branch No. 4 Mk I. It had a Mk III sight on it that was Canadian Arsenals marked on it. I was thinking about just using JB weld on it but then i was concerned with it not aligning properly and being inaccurate. Can anyone give me any suggestions on what to do. Is it worth sending off to a gunsmith. If so does anyone have any recommendations?

Is that all that got broken, or bent?

As per post #5 you should be able to buy a replacement easily. Check eBay for example.

Possible to weld it but won’t look original. You will see the weld build up. I would just find another sight. JB weld won’t hold it together for very long. Stress of flipping it up will break it.
If it was mine I’d try welding the back side then see how it looked. Smoothing it out takes time to have it look right. Weld across the front will be seen. I have a mig so I’d try just to see what kind of a job could be done on it. I won’t be out anything.
Easy to find that style of sight. Cheaper to buy one than have it fixed.

Easy enough to find a correct replacement rear sight, or a stripped rear sight to swap all your good parts onto.

Yeah i might just order the one off marstar as i have a good relationship with them and wouldn't mind giving them more business.

Does anyone have the contact information for "Enfield Bob". He frequents gunshows in Ontario and has an insane amount of different Lee Enfields as well as a massive array of parts for them.

You could try contacting member MLDR on the EE. He's a Lee Enfield guy.

if it was mine I would hit it with the mig welder and then file it back to look correct

Now IF I had a TIG welder I would use that, but I don't have a TIG

Brazing is an option as well.

the easiest option is to replace it

These rifles have been around for 80 years. Stuff got replaced. Lots of stamped Long Branch sights out there for sale. Personally doesn't bother mea bit to replace something as long as it's not a numbered to match part. I have seen guys get all wound up that their Long Branch has a British sling band or some other small part. Armorers didn't care where the rifle or parts were made just that they were serviceable.

The MK III sight were made on rifles but also many more were made as replacements for rifles with Mk II sights. I would replace it. It's not hard to find them and should cost you a maximum of $40 in my opinion.
