need help- barrel selector

Hey guys,

my friend was given a browning o\u in .410. Its got the round palm swell.

I thought it should fire a barrel on after another since its got only 1 trigger. The thing is to fire the second one, we had to put the safe back on and off again, only then it would fire the second barrel...

i'm pretty sure this isnt normal, any help aprreciated!
 
It has a ursa trigger...
Fire the first shot then carefuly pointing in a safe direaction hit the back of the stock and then try to fire the second shot. If this works it is the nursha trigger spring.

Yes you can do this dry fire as well.
Just make sure gun is empty or has snap capps in it.
pull trigger and then hit tap the butt plate.
pull trigger if it fires it is the spring.
 
Did you actually fire the gun and have it not change, or were you dry firing. The barrel selector may be operated by recoil, there is a little pendulum inside which swings back under recoil, this is why smacking the but stock also can get the trigger to change to the other barrel.

If dry firing it won't change without being smacked, if you were firing live loads it's possible the 410 wasn't kicking hard enough to make the pendulum swing. Removing the stock and cleaning it might help. Probably blowing some aerisol gun cleaner through the action with the butt off is all you need, G96 or even WD-40. If it's really dirty you may have to get in there with some q-tips or something, but there is a good chance you can make it work without removing any parts of the action, just the butt stock to get access to it.

Yes, if dry firing, you've got to give it the 'kick' it needs.

If it doesn't click over when actually firing, then get into it. I'm sure you'll find it will work under fire.
