They're two very different pistols. The Tokarev is a kind of Browning derivative and the P38 is a completely different design. Both work very well. If you get a P38 it will have more value over time, but will probably cost a bit more to buy. The Tokarev is very tough. My preference is for the P38 because I like the design and the looks. In shooting, I doubt one is "better" than the other. They're both designed as military sidearms, but the Walther was designed and built under German standards of some elegance (it had to replace the Luger), and the Tokarev was designed and built just to work -- it's much cruder, but effective. I don't know anything about the Norinco copies.
