need help buying first 9mm handgun

it needs to be in the 700-800$ or less range, 9mm and semi-auto.
i was going for a glock-17 but the salesman told me to go whit a all metal gun
like a cz75 or 85b.......

i dont whant to start a debate (plastic vs steel) but i need good advise from
actual owners (not from people that saw a guy or read something on that gun)

i will probably end up in ipsc so please i need good advise!

thanks

The advice: go with what feels best to you. Different guns fit different people better. As far as polymer vs all metal, the metal ones will be easier to shoot, but with some technique and practice polymer will be equally up to the task accuracy-wise. Glocks, M&Ps, CZ75/85s, and a couple of others are all good pistols in that range.

I shoot a 9mm M&P but was seriously considering a glock at first. I found that the interchangeable grips on the M&P was the major selling point for me as my hands are a little smaller and made the glock grip feel a little too chunky. My friend was also in the same boat decision wise and he also chose the M&P. He's 6ft7 and didn't have any problems with the glock grip, but still preferred the feel of the larger palmswell of the M&P. Glocks are great guns and your more likely to find accessories for glocks than for an M&P. I'm a lefty, and finding a good holster was a particular challenge. I settled on a cheap Uncle Mikes nylon holster which works just fine. Performance wise I haven't had any problems with the M&P after 5K rounds of IPSC schooting and over all I am highly recommending it. The M&P 10rd mags are probably the cheapest things on planet earth and have these horrible plastic base plates that make up the bottom 3rd of the magazine body. I've broken a couple while reloading on the run - they dont like abuse, but I wouldn't let that dissuade you from getting one. I'd try to get some solid plugged 15rd'ers which hadle being dropped a lot better.

Hope that helps. Happy shooting.
