Need help choosing ar15 (m4, m16) variant battle rifle

Been a longtime long-rifle shooter, occasional pistol shooter, want to break into the battle rifle scene. Interested in the ar15 and its variants (m16, m4, c8 etc), but there are literally hundreds out there, Colt, Remington, Norinco, Stag, etc. Dont really want to spend 2-3K on a battle rifle, but realize you get what you pay for.

I like the Norinco CQ M4 variant, looks pretty good for about $700 but don't know the quality, reliability (Hopefully not like most things of Chinese origin......)

Ideally looking for shorter, lighter carbine than standard M16 assault rifle, hence interest in the CQ M4.

So for a battle rifle virgin, whats the best bang for buck and best entry level ar-15 variant?:ar15: Any advice is appreciated.
 
So far, no complaints, broken parts, etc. Everything has been five by five with the CQ-A's. There are a few good threads here on them.

I can most definitely get you any AR you want to buy, but I stock the CQ-A's simply because of the price and for the price the quality and reliability of them.

If you're getting into AR's, start here. Remember you can upgrade EVERYTHING on this AR to exactly what you want.

If you're interested in a purchase, I have a few left until my next shipment in 3-4 weeks.
