Hey everyone... Looking for recommendations on optics for my rem 700 in 6.5 cm tactical, heavy 22 inch barrel. I'd be using this for hunting white tail and target. For hunting right now I'm only shooting max 300 yards but would like too shoot further one day chance permitted. Trying to stay under $1000 Thnx all!

My personal experiences for the past umpteen years...I prefer the 4-16 x 42/44 range of scopes. Easily allows you to see your bullet holes on your targets @ 100 yds ...comes down to 4 power for closer shots and up to 16 times for the longer stuff ! If you're an all weather hunter and don't worry about rain , snow etc...I'd go with the Bushnell Elite 4X scope...comes with Rainguard too. Great glass and very rugged ! Not breaking the bank either at around 500 bucks !
My .02 for what it's worth...cheers...Kevin
edit in...These are all 30 mm scopes too.

One inch tube or 30mm?
Some of the Vortex stuff isn't too bad, you will want to check the specs, 80MOA elevation adjustment and a 20MOA rail will work close and far. I stick to the Philippines made Vortex stuff with at least 4" eye relief, no complaints so far, they have all been comparable to my old go to budget Nikon's that are not made anymore.

If its for hunting use, with that platform, I'd look for a SWFA if you are OK with weight. Or a Trijicon Credo

If you like Vanilla Ice-cream a Leupold in 3-9x40mm would be a very good choice to start with.

I have an Arken on mine, a lot of scope for the money. Mind you it’s kinda heavy, my HB REM 700 is in a Magpul hunter stock and with the scope and Bipod has got to be 20 plus pounds. I use it more at the range than hunting, but I guess if you sat in a stand all day it would be ok
