Hi guys, I have been wanting to get in to a 300blkout upper for some time. I have a core15 in .556 and love it but I was wondering. Would there be any issues in mounting the nea-15 upper to my core15 lower? Or is there a better alternative to buying the upper, say building one?

Trying not to be to much of a noob with the AR's, but any info is greatly appreciated.

Well, technically it should fit your lower without issues. If you build your own upper, do you have the tools to do so ie upper receiver and barrel vise blocks, barrel but wrench etc. If you already do, you can probably save a few $$ by building it yourself. Then you can get the satisfaction of saying "I build this" when you shoot it. :)

If you just want a 300 BLK, buying a complete upper is an easy way to go. Building an upper yourself is an entirely different activity. IF you want to build an upper you will need several specific tools and work holding items to avoid twisting/bending or damaging the aluminum upper receiver. If you are not 100% committed to doing the job properly it might be easier to just buy a complete upper.

Nea? Really???

Yes ... REALLY! Whats your issue with NEA? Or is snarky insinuation easier than a reasoned argument?

get a barrel with the right twist for what you are going to shoot (weight of bullet/ length/ speed range)

Wouldn't it be logical that a factory produced upper would come with the correct twist rate for the cartridge? I have yet to see a factory produced 300 BLK upper with a slow twist rate.

I bought a PWS piston driven 300BLK. if you want to try to line up a trip to the range you're more than welcome to run a few mags through it to see if you like it.
I shoot at Genesee and prefer weekday shooting as it's much quieter but can meet at your range if that works better.

Actually I would love to build one but do not have any AR tools to build one. Its one of those problems, do I spend the dollars to get the tools parts and pieces and put it together myself or simply just buy one. For now with work ramping up I would rather spend the time shooting then building one.

For those that say its easy, I have read the threads on here. Once you start down the road of building AR's you have one hand in the straight jacket. Two or three builds later and guys are frothing at the mouth and spend more time tweaking and building then shooting. I am not ready to join that club as of yet, maybe next year.

I will have a couple more looks at buying one. If it is going to fit my lower then I am all for buying one.

CR5 I am a chas member as well. I would be interested in meeting up to shoot, I won't be able to go during the week but shoot me a pm and we can figure some thing out.
