Yesterday at the range when I was adjusting the ellevation knob (on my Tasco Target/Varmint 2.5x10) it started so spin freely (no clicks) with out adjusting anything. When I pressed it down hard I could turn a few clicks at the time. :(

I noticed that there are screws in the knob; is it somethimg I can fix myself? (how?) What should I do?

Sounds like the set screws for zeroing your turrets are loose. Snug them up and see is your "clicks" return. If so, sight in your rifle, back off the screws, spin them to zero and tighten again. Then you always have someplace to come back to.

I don't know if that work work; right now when I spin/turn the knob nothing happens; it doesn't go up or down. Kinda like a child proof cap on a bottle of Tylenol....

Sounds like you grinded off the grooves on your turret knob or the scope, take the turret off and look at the groves inside of it or at the scopes elevation shaft

Start from the beginning. First you snug the screws. If that is your problem and I'll bet on it your clicks will come back. Then you sight in your again functional scope. After it's sighted in you loosen them again, so they once again spin freely and turn the turrets to the index mark and lock them down again. The whole idea is to be able to reset the turrets so when it is sighted at a given distance the turrets will read "zero" elevation and "zero" windage. This way you can crank elevation and windage in as needed and still return to your "zero" setting. Clear yet?

I have tthe same scope only just a bit higher mag, anyway yes the three screws are for zeroing the ellevation so when you get it sighted in you loosen the screws and adjust (knob only) to "0" than you can go to different distance and reste after with no propblem. the grove that the screws are in is smooth so it will just slip, just take the right allen wrench and snug them up.good to go.
any more trouble with this feel free to pm me

UPDATE!

I tightened the screws and the clicks are back! :) I thought I may need to send it out for warranty...

Haven't shot it yet... after I zero it in (again) I'll reset the knobs to zero...
