I just bought I new cz varmint in 22 lr and a tasco 6-24 with a 42 mm objective. I need help finding the right rings for it. I bought a set of burris high rings with plastic inserts(signture serise) that held the objective 3/8 to 1\2 inch off the barrel so I took it out shooting today. I love the rifle and scope but the rings felt a little high so I removed the rings and returned them for burris high rings which I am scared to torx the scope down cause the objective is just touching the barrel. Has anyone mounted one of these tascos or a large scope to a varmint before. The guys at wholesale keep all the ring in the back room and I am wondering if leupold or weaver might have something that will fit better. Please help

"...torx..." Torque?
"...the objective is just touching the barrel..." That's not good with any rifle, even a .22. You could put shims under the bases to raise 'em a bit, then tighten to 'hard' hand tight. The recoil of a .22 isn't enough to loosen the screws. Mind you, a bit of Lock-Tite on the screws will ensure that.
24X is far too much for a .22 as well.

My suggestion is to take the tasco and throw it at the target, and then a rock.
Then it will have been of use.
I have had the heard the gas escape out of tasco's just from focusing them.
In short. You get what you pay for.

What Farlsincharge is getting at is CZ have both 11mm and 3/8th width dovetails - i.e. 452 Lux has 11mm, 453 Varmint has 3/8th... Went with Warne high on 452 (because rear sight housing permanent) and Burris Signature (inserts)
medium on the 453.

You can measure the the height of the ring to the saddle and add 1/2 the tube diameter multiple by two and have the max outside of the bell that rings will work with. B-Square (little difficult to find), also makes light aluminium rings that are a 270 degree top `half' and use 4 allen screws. A lot like the Leupold PRWs (for Weaver) but not nearly as well made (and under 1/2 the price).

The Warne are nice, steel & use torxs screws, Leupold also makes them but not like look or for that matter their price. May want to contact Jerry/MysticPlayer, he can help you with gettng rings to you. You may also also want to check out airgun rings for the same dovetail.

I agree with you Mark. Some people do not know the capabilities of the .22. I have 6x24 x40 scopes on several .22s and when i shoot out to 200 yards, they do let me see what I am hitting. Also the rings should be shimmed as the bases are ground for particular action radii and shimming under them can seriously throw them off. My opinion for sure....

Got a CZ452 Saturday. Went to my local gun store for some rings and a scope.
I had some med Millet rings already and wanted to stick with them if I could??
We tried a bunch of scopes on the CZ with the Millet Med rings.
There were alot of scopes that did not clear the bolt or were touching the barrel.
Was not sure what scope I wanted so just went home and put on my Vortex Viper 4x12x40PA with the Millet Med rings.
Going to try this out for a bit then get a scope with more power.
